Good morning.   I did my first import the other day and it worked very well.   One thing however that I had trouble understanding is the functionality of images.   We batched 2,800 of our automotive gaskets sets and many of them have multiple image URL’s so we went ahead on this import just used a single image URL in Row R.   So, any one have any ideas on what one can do to add multiple images?  I tried putting to URL’s in as well as separated with a comma but that did not seem to work.

Also, maybe a silly question but do the images have to be a URL or on smaller sheets can there be a link to them on computer file?  I understand that would be a lot of data to transfer…

    Thanks for your help… Scott

Hi scotthenshaw, I know we’ve talked via e-mail and Facebook and resolved your image import query but this is for posterity.

To assign multiple Product images within your Excel spreadsheet you need to separate each Image filename or URL with a ‘Category separator’, by default this is set to ‘|’ (vertical pipe character). You do not need to end the Image column with a Category separator, just for each new image as below.

    For instance:

    Image column
    http://www.domain.com/images/image1a.jpg (single image)
    http://www.domain.com/images/image1a.jpg|http://www.domain.com/images/image1b.jpg (two images)
    http://www.domain.com/images/image1a.jpg|http://www.domain.com/images/image1b.jpg|http://www.domain.com/images/image1c.jpg (three images)

This rule also applies for assigning multiple Categories, Tags and other Product fields that support multiple items (e.g. Related Products). Hope this helps.
