Hi guys, can you please post how you got it to show. Please share- that’s the point of a forum. I am having the same problem as libaizhuo. Thanks.October 16, 2010 at 12:51 pm #6786
Hi eunoia, can you please explain the issue you’re experiencing, if you’re using a custom WP e-Commerce theme it’s possible the ‘hooks’ needed to place the Related Products element isn’t available and is the reason for it not showing. Feel free to get in touch via e-mail for dedicated support.October 17, 2010 at 6:00 pm #6787
Hi everyone, I’m just following up here to say that we solved my issue with the plugin. For anyone having the issue of it not showing, I would suggest the following:
If you are using Safari on a Mac, reset the browser (Safari Menu in the top left hand corner> reset Safari menu option> then Reset button. This will clear the cache (and everything else, so save your bookmarks if you want em). Mine was a very sticky cache and I wasn’t seeing the plugin. For some strange reason I had to try it a couple of times and even restart the computer. Weird.
Secondly, you might want to triple check that you’re actually looking at the deepest level of your product listing and not what you THINK is the product listing but is actually the category summary. To explain: Depending on how you’ve got your wp-ecommerce set up, you might have the full product information showing up on the brief description in the category listing if your product listing is actually quite short, leading you to think you’re in a product listing. That’s what I did. I found that when I was looking at the product category, the full product description was showing up on each listing, confusing me into thinking I was looking at the product listing. I was looking at this and seeing no ‘related products’ thus thinking the plugin wasn’t working. If you think your plugin isn’t working, it might be worth trying to click on the title link of a product and go as deep as you can, then you might find it, buried in a bit deeper.
Hope this helps someone.
Oh, and Michael was great. Helped me within 24 hours and was fantastic. 🙂October 18, 2010 at 8:22 pm #6788
I am wondering… Is there a way I can add text to the plugin? Under the Related Products heading I’d like a paragraph of text, where I can explain to the customer that they can add any of the products in the list below to make up their ‘lot’ in their shopping cart (I sell in dozens you see, but I want to use the plugin to offer them options that can make up their dozens) and I’d like the instructions to be in the plugin so i don’t have to type it into each product listing. I understand I might have to hard code this, could you explain the line I’d need to add?
Also, how do I tell the plugin to show the images at a smaller size?
Thanks for your help.October 18, 2010 at 8:37 pm #6789
Ok, I figured out that the images can be changed at lines 17 – 18 of the default.css file in the themes folder. Duh.October 20, 2010 at 8:57 pm #6790
Hi eunoia, I’ll be introducing themable templating for all of my Plugins to match the rollout of WP e-Commerce 3.8 theme templating; you’ll love it. This means you can customise your template to suit your needs 🙂 This will be included in the next release, as well as an option to manage thumbnails which is currently managed within the Plugin file.October 21, 2010 at 3:02 am #6791
Ok, that sounds great. Any idea when that might be though? In the meantime is there a way I can add a single line of text to the php file to show just under the related products heading? I know it’s a pain, but I need a solution quite quickly. Thanks again.October 25, 2010 at 1:59 am #6792
Any ideas how I can fix this? …October 25, 2010 at 3:08 pm #6793
I really need a solution to this, can you please help me- much apprecaited…November 25, 2010 at 3:47 pm #6794
Hi eunoia, you can now template Related Products by copying the Plugin theme files into your current WordPress directory, Related Products will then load your ‘update-safe’ copy allowing for any customisation you see fit 🙂 You will need to merge any changes when you update Related Products however, I’ll be working on a smart way to notify of changes.August 24, 2011 at 5:43 am #7982zorigoParticipant
So..I can get this plugin to work using the template tag. However, for some reason it displays the price of the product on the page and not the related product. So, if product A is the man product and product Q is the related product it shows the price for product A for product Q. Any idea what’s wrong?August 29, 2011 at 8:29 am #7995
Hi zorigo, I’ll have a play and confirm this issue. If I can reproduce this I’ll send out a Plugin update to fix this.
