    I am trying to retrieve a custom field for each product on the checkout page. It is straightforward on the products page and the single product page.

    I think that would be fine if I could get the product id and use it to call the right field.

    But I cannot find a function that will retrieve the product id on the checkout page – if I use wpsc_the_product_id(); I get the page id of the checkout and I can’t find the function that will call the cart_item product id is there one? I hope you can help.

    figured out the solution:

    $units = wpsc_cart_item_product_id();
    the_field(‘unit’, $units);

    That’s the one charlotte@eircom.net, you need to get the Post ID of the Product stored in the cart not the current Post ID. 🙂
