Product Importer Deluxe Retirement: License, Support, And What’s Next

Product Importer Deluxe Retirement: License, Support, And What's Next

The Product Importer Deluxe retirement is official: Visser Labs is removing the plugin from sale. If you’re a current customer, this page covers what that means for your license, why we made this call, and where Visser Labs is headed next.

If you hold an active license, nothing changes today. Your plugin access, downloads, updates, and support all continue as normal through your current term.

In this article, we’ll cover what stays the same, what’s changing, and what’s launching in its place.

What We’re Building Next

Over the past year, the Visser Labs team has been working on a new lineup of small, focused WooCommerce utility plugins. Each one is built to solve one specific problem properly: tightly scoped tools that handle one friction point and stay out of your way.

Checkout Guard launched first. It blocks unwanted WooCommerce orders using name and email rules, stopping fraud, spam, and abusive customers at checkout. The kind of problem that used to require piecing together multiple solutions. Checkout Guard handles it in one place.

More plugins are shipping over the next year, covering different areas of WooCommerce friction that don’t have a clean, dedicated solution yet. It’s the most excited the Visser Labs team has been about the roadmap in a long time.

Store Exporter Deluxe remains our flagship export tool and is actively developed.

Why We Made This Call

That new focus also means making some honest choices about what we keep building.

Product Importer Deluxe has helped many WooCommerce store owners bring product data into their stores over the years, and we’re grateful to everyone who used it.

The decision to retire it comes down to an honest look at where import tooling stands today. WooCommerce now includes a built-in product CSV importer that handles bulk imports, attribute mapping, and image importing natively. According to WooCommerce’s own product importer documentation, it lets store owners “easily import large volumes of products in bulk, including their attributes, categories, and images, directly into WooCommerce using a CSV file.” The platform has matured significantly on this front. Maintaining a standalone import plugin alongside that isn’t the best use of what Visser Labs builds well.

What Changes With the Product Importer Deluxe Retirement

Product Importer Deluxe is no longer available for new customers. The plugin won’t be listed for purchase and no new licenses will be issued.

New feature development is stopping too. The plugin will continue to be maintained for active license holders, with security patches and bug fixes as needed, but the development roadmap ends here.

When your current license expires, it won’t be available for renewal. You’ll keep the version of the plugin you have installed, but new downloads and Visser Labs support end at that point.

Your Existing License Is Unaffected

If you have an active Product Importer Deluxe license, your current setup continues unchanged. You keep full access to the plugin, including downloads, updates, and support from the Visser Labs team, through the end of your current license term.

You don’t need to do anything right now.

Conclusion

The Product Importer Deluxe retirement marks a deliberate step forward for Visser Labs. For current customers, your license keeps working through its expiry with the full support you’d expect. For the roadmap, this makes room for something we’ve been building toward for a while

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Product Importer Deluxe retirement mean for my license?

Your existing license is unaffected by the Product Importer Deluxe retirement. Retirement from sale means no new licenses are issued and no new features will be built. If you hold an active license, you keep full access through your current term, including downloads, updates, and Visser Labs support.

Will my license renew when it expires?

No. After the retirement date, licenses run to expiry and aren’t available for renewal. Once your license expires, new downloads and Visser Labs support end. You’ll keep the version of the plugin you currently have installed.

Will I still receive updates and security patches?

Yes, through the end of your current license term. We’ll continue maintaining the plugin for active license holders during that period.

What should I use for WooCommerce product imports going forward?
