Going through and clearing up unanswered topics, this was resolved via e-mail. Custom Fields is not compatible in this scenario as it ties in with WP e-Commerce not with other Themes that use their own Post meta.
I’ll look into adding support for this within Custom Fields but in the meantime recommended using the ‘sample’ Product detail as a template within the importer to add the required additional details.
