WooCommerce in action: Store Frontpage

Featured Products

Featured Products uses the Featured Product attribute within the Add/Edit Products view of the WordPress Administration to filter Products on the Store Frontpage. Using a jQuery-based slider store visitors can click through to view additional Featured Products.

I noticed Products with variations are displayed differently to standard non-variation based Products showing ‘Select options’ over the default ‘Add to cart’. Also, standard ‘Add to cart’ button use jQuery to add the Product to the Shopping Cart widget without requiring a page load whereas variation-based Products just link to the Product.

Featured Products supports the Sale Price attribute and shows Products with a Sale Price differently by slashing the original price and emphasising the Sale Price.

Recent Products

Recent Products as expected displays the most recently added Products, also following the Featured Products trend displaying ‘Select options’ for variation-based Products.

Products that have a Sale Price display a ‘Sale!’ label overlaying the Product image. The demonstration site presents this in a 2-column grid layout, whether other layout options are supported is in the air.
